Medicare Supplement · Medigap
Help with the gaps in Original Medicare.
A Medicare Supplement policy is sold by private insurers to help pay costs that Part A and Part B do not cover, such as coinsurance. You usually keep a separate Part D drug plan.
Good to know before you call
- You need Medicare Part A and Part B to buy a Supplement.
- Standardized lettered plans (such as G or N) are the same core benefits across insurers in most states. Price and household discounts differ.
- The best time to enroll is often your Medigap open enrollment window when you are 65 and enrolled in Part B. After that, health questions may apply.
- A Supplement is not the same as Medicare Advantage. An agent should not enroll you in both.
